About us
Seattle PONY Baseball & Softball
Is a recreational youth league that has offered a quality baseball experience to the community for 20 years. Our goal is to provide fun, competitive baseball instruction, practices, and games to boys and girls ages 4 to 16 that will help them grow into healthier and happier adults.
PONY is an acronym for Protect Our Nation's Youth. The concept came from boys at a local YMCA in Pennsylvania several decades ago, and the name originally stood for "Protect Our Neighborhood Youth." When PONY became a worldwide program in the 1950s, the word "neighborhood" was expanded to "nation." There are now hundreds of local PONY league programs around the United States
PONY divisions are generally organized into two-year age brackets: Shetland Division: T-Ball ages 4-6; Pinto Division for ages 7-8; Mustang Division for ages 9-10; Bronco Division for ages 11-12; Pony Division for ages 13-14; and Colt Division for ages 15-16. Play is governed by the official rules of Major League Baseball, modified in some cases as appropriate for the various age groups.
Seattle PONY Baseball is a volunteer organization. Our ability to serve the kids depends on members of the community. We are always looking for volunteers to serve in positions such as coach and assistant coach. If you would like to participate, please contact us at: information@spbpony.org
